Addressing term is a necessary language measure for people to establish relationships and keep in touch with others, which is subordinated to the independent words of Chinese and is a special part in the Chinese grammatical component. It is used to draw attention of others and play a role of communication guide. In the early time, addressing terms mixed with titles. It was not until the end of 20th century did addressing terms gradually separate from titles, as a result, the study for the pure addressing terms begin to move forward. This study covers extensive fields. However, the research achievements lay particular stress on the literary use of addressing terms or the discussion to the evolution of special ones. People don't attach importance to its grammatical use.In this thesis, addressing terms from LIAO ZHAI LI QU JI of Lu Dahuang are used as corpus. By the way of a comprehensive abstract and the classification of abstracted addressing terms, the thesis takes a general hold of addressing terms in LI QU JI. Then the thesis makes a further research about the inner structure, affix and adopting system of addressing terms and compares the addressing term in LI QU JI and in modern Chinese. In this way, it is not only to help people transversely learn the feature of addressing terms in LIAO ZHAI LI QU JI, but can help people understand the longitudinal development of it. This thesis mainly includes the following six parts:Chapter one is the introduction. This part introduces the definition of addressing terms, the similarities and differences between addressing terms and titles, status quo of addressing term at home and abroad, the weakness and the significance of the research. In addition, this part makes a brief introduction to the source of corpus——contents about LIAO ZHAI LI QU JI,including the contents of this work and some different versions of it.Chapter two classifies the significance attribute of addressing terms. Nine categories have been covered. For example, name addressing terms, relative addressing terms, identity and profession addressing terms and so on. The content of each category is exhibited in the form of table and then merged. This part studies the proportion of various addressing terms and analyses the reasons for this proportion.Chapter three make the initial research on the inner structure of addressing terms, discovering a special structure——verb-object addressing terms. This type of addressing terms is a unique on in LI QU JI. This part studies the affix and affix unusual matching as well. Furthermore, this part analyses modal particles emerging with addressing terms.Chapter four analyses the adopting system of addressing terms from four pragmatics perspectives:style difference, perspective difference, sex difference, context difference. Together with concrete Chinese examples, this part also makes a detailed introduction about the influential elements of the adopting system on addressing terms. It is found that rather than casually, addressing terms is used intentionally.Chapter five compares the addressing terms in LI QU JI with that in modern Chinese from its existence or not, its semantics change and the use of it. Some evaluative patterns of addressing terms have been illustrated in this part.Chapter six is the final conclusion. This part summarizes the main problem of this thesis, clarifies the research value this article and puts forward the problem needed further discussion.
