| In the research of the Second Language Acquisition (SLA), writing is considered as one of the most important skills in the four basic English skills. It requires both writing knowledge and writing strategies of students who want to succeed in developing their writing proficiency. A lot of researches have been done in writing strategy, but most researches focus on the undergraduates. This thesis is an empirical study on the application and effect of writing strategy under cooperative learning model by English majors of vocational colleges.According to the process writing approach, combined with the previous researches in and abroad, the writing strategy adopted in the study is divided into four strategies:planning strategy, drafting strategy, revising strategy and editing strategy.The study is conducted with 2 questionnaires and some writing tasks. The questionnaire is used to examine the students' use of writing strategies in the writing process. Several writing tasks are used to evaluate students' writing proficiency. The subjects of the experiment are 60 freshmen from English majors of Ma' anshan vocational college. Major findings are as follows:(1)The writing strategies used by students of the two classes have some similarities and differences. The highest strategy used by the two classes is editing strategy, while the lowest strategy is drafting strategy. The experimental class uses the planning and editing strategy much more than the controlled class. As the drafting and revising strategy, the frequency used by the two classes is almost the same. (2)After the experiment, the writing proficiency of students in experimental class is better than the controlled class (3)Compared with the controlled class, experimental class has improved more in tense of verbs, subject-verb agreement and the numbers of nouns, for the use of preposition and articles, there is no obvious difference between the two classes.The present study has enriched the research on the writing strategy and the cooperative learning model. The application of writing strategy under cooperative learning has effect on improving students'writing proficiency which can be manifested in terms of grammar use. Besides, this study has also proved that cooperative learning can promote students' learning effect and English learners should attach great importance to it. |
