Agricultural Natural Disasters And The Song Dynasty's Food Security

Ancient Chinese always take the food security problems as the primary problem for governing restores, it relates to the social stability and national security. Many factors affect food security, natural disasters as one of the most important, a serious threat to food security level. In order to cope with the natural disasters to ensure food security, the Song Dynasty former generation attention the thoughts of food security problem, on the basis of continuous development and deepening, puts forward a series of thoughts about how to ensure food security, and put it into practice. This paper based on flood, drought and locust, the three kinds of agricultural natural disasters as an example, discusses the influence for food security in the Song Dynasty, and investigate the measures to ensure food security that Song Dynasty adopted .This paper will be divided into four chapters to analyze. First, through the analysis of the Song Dynasty flood, drought and locusts happen times, disaster level and time-space distribution, give the three disasters situation in Song Dynasty roughly. Second, by investigating the definition of modern food security, to define the scope of Song Dynasty's food security, analyze the Song Dynasty's food security in various performance. Third, analyze the influence of the three disasters in Song Dynasty's food security . Finally, analyze the Song Dynasty government's measures in response to the disaster, ensure food security.
