The speeches in Yaan, Mingshan, Tianquan, Lushan, Baoxing, Shimian, Hanyuan and Luding which were read in abrupt sound tone in ancient time are now read in high-level sound tone. According to Huang xuezhen's paper Districts of Southwestern Mandarin, the speech of these 8 counties belong to the branch of the Ya-Mian area of the Southwestern Mandarin in Modern Chinese Dialects. There are few research results about the speeches of the 8 counties by now.There are five parts in this paper. The first part is an overview of the study of the speeches of the 8 counties and introduces persons who read materials, and materials about the on-the-spot investigation, analyze method. The second part is the background of the 8 counties about their general situations on the landform, the historical evolution, the human migration, with the purpose of find the evolution of the phonologic system. The third part is the contents about the phonologic system of the speeches of the 8 counties, describing the initial consonants, rhymes and tones of the speeches. The fourth part is a synchronic comparison: comparing speeches in the 8 counties with Chengdu Speech and Beijing speech to conclude the similarities and differences on the phonology. The fifth part shows the sound features of the speeches in the 8 counties as a branch of a unity Dialects.Using the methods of Chinese dialectology and comparative historical linguistics, basing on the recorded sound material from the on-the-spot investigation to the natives, comparing the phonologic system of Speeches in the 8 counties with both the Chengdu and Beijing phonologic system in order to reveal the laws of phonologic system of Speeches in the 8 counties synchronally.
