About the research of dialectal modal word, the current focus of attention is on the interrogative words, while the indicative words are only studied individually and we can hardly find systematic discourse on them. The Tongliao Chinese Dialect has much similarity with Mandarin in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. That's why only little research can be found on it. Based on field surveys, the author collects and analyzes a lot of corpus. Combined with previous and current research, the paper systematically describes and preliminarily analyzes the indicative mood words of the dialectal Chinese in Tongliao City. The first chapter reviews the study of indicative modal words in common language, dialects and the Inner Mongolian dialect. Based on that, the author summarizes the previous experience, learns the essence and gets useful inspiration on theory and methods. In this paper, the traditional Three Plane Theory is taken as the theoretical basis and comparing used as the principal methods. In view of ambiguous concept, the second chapter gives the definition of the indicative mood word and sets standards after clarifying the relationship among mood, modal word and intonation. The indicative modal word is not defined only by sentence category. It must can be used for indicative sentence, but not limited to it. When used in other kinds of sentences, if the meaning of modal word is in consistent with what in indicative sentence, then it should be considered as indicative word. Subsequently, the paper defines the scope and number of indicative modal words in Tongliao dialect, meanwhile puts forward some personal views on the nature of some words. Ultimately, the author determines that there are17monosyllabic indicative modal words and one phrase indicative modal word in Tongliao dialect. From the perspectives of syntax distribution, modal meaning and function, they are studied under detailed analysis. As to meaning analysis, we use the principle from Mr. Chu Chengzhi, who combines the methods of "smallest difference in contrast" and "biggest generality induction". Besides, we try not to mix the meaning of other factors in sentence with the meaning of modal word to keep its independence. The paper analyzes the meaning of all the18modal words one by one and makes targeted comparison among them. As to functions, the paper points out that some words have the functions of prompting time, omitting the focus of sentence or changing the tone of sentence. After knowing the indicative modal words of Tongliao dialect in multi-angles, chapter three compares the indicative modal words in Tongliao dialect with Mandarin. Tongliao dialect belongs to the Northeast Mandarin and is highly consistent with the Northeastern Mandarin in Northeastern region. Through this comparison, we can have a clear understanding about similarities and differences between the Mandarin and Northeast Mandarin on indicative modal words. By comparison, it is found that part of the indicative modal words are identical, part of them have slight differences in pronunciation and usage, part of them exist in Tongliao dialect uniquely and part of them belong to Mandarin but haven't be found in Tongliao dialect.
