In the past ten years, trend in studying Chinese has become popular in Viet Nam, Chinese is more highly recognized, and therefore, teaching Chinese is on its growth. However, a number of different issues arise as regards the growth rate of teaching and learning Chinese. Teaching Chinese in Viet Nam, especially the curriculum planning, is in a disordered and unsystematic state. There are even no rules or basic standards for planning the curriculum. The so-called appropriate curriculum is often based on specific conditions of the university and perhaps this is one of the main causes of the fact that teaching Chinese in Viet Nam still not perfect. In addition, the matter of curriculum planning is not particularly taken care of and there is no one to research this issue, it is probably due to the fact that curriculum planning is not considered to be important. As far as I am concerned, curriculum planning has affected the growth rate and the standards of teaching Chinese in Viet Nam and should need special considerations of educational circles.This thesis uses the curriculum of teaching Chinese in Viet Nam as a research target, while at the same time, starts to investigate and analyze three kinds of teaching Chinese in Viet Nam. The first type is the curriculum of the Department of Chinese in three universities in Viet Nam. The second is the curriculum of the specializing in Chinese in three universities in Viet Nam. The third is the curriculum of Chinese as a second language in three universities in Viet Nam. In addition, opinion polls are distributed to students in order to identify existing issues in the Chinese curriculum planning in the universities in Viet Nam. This thesis also comes up with opinions and recommendations to boost the development of the curriculum planning of Chinese teaching in Viet Nam.This thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter1:"Introduction":introducing research condition, the history and the present condition of teaching Chinese in Viet Nam, the significance of the research and ways of research.Chapter2:"Curriculum of the Department of Chinese in three universities in Viet Nam".This chapter introduces clearly the present curriculum of the Department of Chinese in three universities in Viet Nam, analyzes the results of the research, and summarizes the characteristics and existing problems as regards the curriculum of the Department of Chinese. Chapter3:"Curriculum of the specializing in Chinese in three universities". This chapter introduces clearly the present curriculum of specialized Chinese in three universities in Viet Nam, analyzes the results of the research, and summarizes the characteristics and existing problems as regards the curriculum of the specialized Chinese.Chapter4:"Curriculum of Chinese as a second language in three universities in Viet Nam". This chapter introduces clearly the present curriculum of Chinese as a second language in three universities in Viet Nam, analyzes the results of the research, and summarizes the characteristics and existing problems as regards the curriculum of Chinese as a second language.Chapter5:"Summary". This chapter compares, analyzes and reviews the completeness of the Chinese teaching curriculum of nine universities in Viet Nam and comes up with appropriate recommendations.
