Renaissance is not a simple retro movement; its essence is by learning from the classics to create a new culture. Inspired by the specific forms of the classical arts, the Renaissance movement adopted the realistic methodology and the classical democratic sprit. At that time in Greece and Rome arts were basically non-realistic and controlled by the church. Against such a background which religious theology shrouded all, the anti-feudal neo-arts focused on the importance of realism and reflected the humanism thought of opposing religious asceticism. Therefore, what people were learning at that time were not the forms of the classics but their spirits.Although the ancient Greek and ancient Roman people love natural sceneries, in their paintings, landscapes were only dotted as decorations in some pastoral scenes or served as extremely simple background ornaments in figure paintings, which were barely interesting. In the Middle Ages, because-of theological spirits shackled on human, it was incredible that founding a painting without a clear religious story or secular theme. And in such paintings, sceneries covered more areas but only drawn as decorative symbols of the paintings which bore no importance. Not until 15,16th century, with the continuous expansion of the humanism, people began to cast their eyes on themselves and the surrounding environment, so paintings were gradually out of the control of the Church and the artists could make the beautiful sceneries their themes, which marked the landscape painting become an independent genre. The emergence of landscape paintings stared in the early Renaissance in Italy. In the first half of 14th century, Italian paintings, such as the Good Governance Map in Siena town hall and on the early 11th century transcript of Dylan decorative paintings, landscape paintings appeared and moreover with large proportions. While the sceneries in these works only served as backings of the figure paintings and the religious paintings. Landscape paintings as an independent form did not start in Humanism developed Italy, but gradually developed into a separate art branch later. From Pieter Brugel the last Renaissance master in Nederland there began to seen real landscape painters.
