Mortality salience refers using fear of death scale, film of mortal event, approach to funeral parlor and other ways to arouse people thinking about death and things of death related, it can initiate death anxiety. Mortality salience hypothesis emerges from Terror Management Theory, refers to that if a sort of mental mechanism can mitigate death anxiety, in the condition of mortality salience, individual will enhance requirement for the mental mechanism. Mortality salience effects mean the phenomenon of individual needs of the mental mechanism that can alleviate fear of death. A large number of studies confirm that mortality salience effects of esteem and cultural worldview, in recent years, researchers proposed that a close relationship also have anxiety-buffering function. In the condition of mortality salience, individual will enhance the need of close relationship. The purpose of this study is to operate mortality salience through a closed structured questionnaire and subliminal launched in laboratory, examine the terror management function of close relationship, and explore the impact of college students, adult attachment on the mortality salience effect of close relationship, rich mortality salience research, provide empirical support for terror management theory.Method:Study1,220college students were the object of study, researchers manipulated the mortality salience and neutral remind through questionnaires in order to investigate the difference on close relationship seeking between two groups.Study2,256college students were the object of study, researchers measured subjects, self-esteem and attachment, subsequently manipulated mortality salience on them, measured subjects, death anxiety with sated anxiety after mortality salience, used intimacy as a measurement of the individuals, desire to close relationship, investigated the relationship of attachment, self-esteem and death anxiety on the condition of mortality salience, and explored the affection of self-esteem and attachment to mortality salience effects on close relationship.Study3, used written material related to death as subliminal mortality salience and used neutral written material as control group, investigated individual difference in interpersonal self-efficacy and satisfaction of close relationship under different operated conditions. Subsequently, on the condition of subliminal mortality salience, used written material related to secure attachment as secure attachment activation, and used neutral written material as control group, investigated the affection of secure attachment activation to close relationship defense on the condition of mortality salience.Finally, the discussion section annotated the results of this study, and summarized this study, discussed the practical significance and future prospects of this research.Results:(1) The difference on close relationship seeking between mortality salience group and the neutral control group is significant.(2) Self-esteem regulates the relationship of death anxiety and intimacy in the condition of mortality salience.(3)Attachment avoidance regulates the relationship of death anxiety and intimacy, but the regulating role of attachment anxiety is not significant in the condition of mortality salience.(4)The individuals, ability of interpersonal intimacy and satisfaction of close relationship will be enhanced in the condition of subliminal mortality salience.(5)Activated secure attachment, the individuals, ability of interpersonal intimacy and satisfaction of close relationship will be declined in the condition of subliminal mortality salience.(6) The psychological mechanism of intimate relationship buffer death anxiety is the sense of meaning.
