Unexpected things or emergencies have taken place all through time and continue to take place today. With the development of the society, the frequency of emergencies is increasing. Emergencies, induced by some factors such as the risk of market economy, the adjustment of the benefit pattern, the differentiation of class organization, the lag of reform of administrative system and natural disasters, have negative effects on economy, politics, culture and social mind. Ideological and political education plays an important role in preventing and reducing the negative influence. Meanwhile, negative influences would be transferred to the positive ones under some conditions. Therefore, the thesis focuses on the ideological and political education in handling the emergency problems.The thesis first introduces the basic concepts of emergency events. Based on this, it discusses the opportunity of ideological and political education and its role in dealing with emergencies. Deep understandings upon its important role have been developed in theoretical field. However, the systemic research on its application to emergency events has been few, and if any, a thorough exploration is rare. This thesis will attaches importance to a series of principles, ways to achieve and targeted educating methods of ideological and political education in handling emergency events, with the purpose of enhancing its feasibility in that special period.
