accompanied by the development of human society to some extent.In China,since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,China has entered the new historical period of reform and opening up.Our economy society has entered the fast lane of sustained and rapid development.At the same time,we are facing a series of problems,such as resource constraints,environmental damage,and the continuous production and intensification of social contradictions.These problems have become an important factor to induce emergencies in the new period.Faced with the characteristics of high frequency,wide range of impact,long duration,great destructive force and many chain effects of emergencies in the new period,all sectors of society should attach great importance to strengthening coordination and joint response.As the main way to educate and guide people’s ideology,ideological and political education is unshirkable responsibility.In response to all the meaning of emergencies in academia,this paper compares them with some related concepts,reveals the basic connotation of emergencies,and summarizes the main types of emergencies.Taking the new period as the time background,this paper expounds the basic characteristics,causes and main effects of emergencies in the new period.It leads to the relationship between emergencies and ideological and political education in the new period.By comparing with ideological and political education in daily life,it makes basic provisions on Ideological and political education in emergencies and clarifies its main characteristics.Using case analysis method,from concrete to abstract,this paper sketches four kinds of typical emergency cases,reveals the role of Ideological and political
