As the Reform and Opening up policy going deeper, the social and economic structure of China is undergoing change profoundly, and various contradictions exist. In recent years, the group event happened frequently, and this already becomes an important question which affects our country's economic development and the social stability. At the outbreak and development of the group event, the psychological elements of the group which do a little harm, such as group polarization, plays a decisive role. This dissertation mainly from psychology point of view analysis the group event in the transition period of society, and uses a term in financial field, herd behavior, in order to explain group behavior in the group event.The writer comes up against two difficulties in the process of studies. Firstly, the behavior of the government rewarding the group event causes it trapped in a dilemma. Secondly, the writer tried to establish a function about group behaviors, but failed, because there are too many elements which can affect the explanatory variable. The writer, therefore, try to explain reasonably herd behavior in the group event in use of psychology theory. Because of the action of psychological causes in herd behavior, the group event is gradually turned into the violence accident. According to it, the dissertation sets forth the psychological causes and social psychology about the formation of herd behavior in the group event, and the psychological process about the formation of group behavior can be understood clearly. Then the herd behavior with conformity behavior and group consciousness are compared separately. After it, the whole process of the Weng an accident is analyzed thoroughly, and we can see clearly how the herd behavior forms and how it worsens. At last, some proposals to the government and individuals are put forward.
