Since1990, the heated debate about the historical destiny of the Capitalism hasbeen held in the western academic world. The famous progressive philosopherWallerstein argues that the Capitalism is gradually going to step into the final stageand to the death, and be replaced by another new system. Although along with theopinions of Marxism, his argumentative thought and the basic theoretical base are sodifferent from the Marxism that deserve specializing.Beginning with introducing the theoretical background of Wallerstein'sWorld-System Analysis, this paper mainly talks about its relationship with theMarxism. Then, Wallerstein's opinions of the historical destiny of the Capitalismexpressed in his World-System Analysis are reviewed and rearranged. Finally, referring to the actual development of the Capitalism in the present stage, Wallerstein'sprophecy about the prospect of the Capitalism is judged and the author's opinionsabout it put forward in this paper are also exhibited here.In his masterpiece Modern World System, Wallerstein exhibits the whole processof the development of the Capitalism and explores the politics, economy and society inCapitalism deeply in order to make people have a much wider understanding of thehistorical destiny of the Capitalism. After the Drastic Change in Soviet Union and EastEurope, he puts forward a new model for analysis and a great number of profoundopinions based on the capitalist society, especially the new trends in American society.Corresponding with the Marxism, his analysis tells the significant change in thecapitalist society from a larger area and a long term, which overcomes some fatal flawsof the contemporary theories and methodologies and provides a practicable platformfor studying the Capitalism. The great contribution of the World-System Analysis willbe more or less depended on or taken into consideration in any future researches on thehistorical transformation. This paper agrees with Wallerstein's opinion that the Capitalism is one of thehistorical social forms, and identifies with his judgement about the Capitalism is now at the structural crisis and his conjecture that the Capitalism will definitely go to the deathas well. However, there are a large number of different opinions about how theCapitalism goes to the death and by what system the Capitalism is replaced in theanticipated future.
