Research On Wallerstein's World System Theory From The Perspective Of Human Destiny Community

As the main representative of the developing Marxist,Wallerstein made an in-depth analysis of modernization development in developing countries through his World System Theory and revealed the inevitability of Human Community to a new word system which differs from other modernization theories and the Dependency Theory with obvious west-centralism.It is of great significance to interpret the key concept and purposes on Wallerstein's World System Theory from the perspective of Human Destiny Community,which could reveal the contemporary value and limitations of the World System Theory,enhance understandings on the destiny of the capitalism and socialism as well as enhance “Four Matters of Confidence”.Based on the Marxism,Dependency Theory and Annales School,Wallerstein conducted a holistic analysis of the emergence,development trend,and evolution of the capitalist world system through integrated discipline research methods.He examined the world system from perspectives of economics,politics and culture,and revealed serious inequality and irrationality of the 500-year capitalist world system.Wallerstein believes that the modern world system presents a “core-semiperiphery-periphery” framework owing to the unequal exchange and different labor division.Meanwhile,it presents periodic characteristics owing to the influence of long-term cyclical fluctuations.Wallerstein conducted a long-term and wide-ranging holistic analysis on modern world system through the combination of the World System Theory with Marx's theory of world history and made a comprehensive criticism on capitalism.Both Wallerstein and Marx believe that capitalism is a retrogression in history,which will gradually decline and die due to its insurmountable shortcomings.Meanwhile the capitalist world system will be replaced by a new system,and human society will eventually move towards a whole.Wallerstein firmly believes that this new system will be a harmonious and just world system.Within the new world system,everyone in the world will eventually achieve justice,freedom,equality,harmony and sharing.It can be obviously seen that Wallerstein's world system structure is firmly based on the standpoint of Human Destiny Community.Wallerstein attaches great importance to problems of social development and provides a new research paradigm for contemporary social development.However,there are also limitations of the world system theory,we should inherit and develop its value,but criticize and resolve the negative factors.Wallerstein concerns the modernization issues of the developing countries and makes a key analysis of the relationship between China and the world.China has found its own role positioning after integrating into the world system.China will stick to its own path and never seek hegemony.The recent proposed “Belt and Road” and current measures taken by China to support other countries to fight against the epidemical have vividly practiced the concept of Human Destiny Community and clarified China's responsibility as a great power in the world system.Wallerstein believes that the practice of China has driven the development of semiperiphery and periphery countries,and Chinese citizens who account for a quarter of humanity will play a major role in determining the destiny and future of the Human Community.
