After the Sino-Japanese War, British's dominance in China was challenged by other powers seriously. British Foreign Policy in China which as an important component of British Far Eastern policy followed a difficult situation. For the preservation of vested interests, British started to adjust the policy in China actively. Whether it advocated open door policy, or established the Anglo-Japanese alliance, the basic starting point of the British Foreign Policy in China was always to get freedom of movement and to maintain status in China. This paper reviews the basic process of British foreign policy in China in the decade evolution. On the basis of analysis from cultural point of view, the conversion of British foreign policy in China included the clear conservative, pragmatic, balancing and other features. This was not only the influence by the British conservatism, realism, and the balance of power thinking of traditional culture, but also the use and display of its diplomatic, where the cultural traditions and the British Foreign characteristics obtained internal consistency.
