In rencent years, the focus of the foreign language learning research has gradually been shifted from the"teacher-centered"to"student-centered"and shifted from"how to teach"by the teacher to"how to learn"by the learner. The teachers also pay more attention to the behaviour of the students as individual. In the process of the second language acquisition, the way of learning and getting information for every learners is different. Therefore, people gradually begin to be aware that individual difference between learners is the key factor to influence the second language acquisition. Learning style as an important component, however, has been paid more attention by more and more foreign language teachers and researchers. So far, most researchers investigate college students from the perspective of cognitive style. In this thesis, the author mainly investigate Chinese senior high school students from the perspective of perceptual learning style. In order to find out the relationship between the perceptual learning styles of senior high school students and English learning achievements, the author of the thesis carried out a study about relationship between the perceptual learning styles of senior high school students and English learning achievements among Grade one students who were studying in PanShan County Senior High School. The investiagtion employed Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire by Joy Reid (1987) and an mid-term English achievement test paper as the instrument to collect data and analyze it. The subjects consist of 124 students in Grade One in senior high school. The result of this investigation shows that Chinese senior high school students show a variety of learning style preferences. For example, visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, individual and group learning styles. The majority of the students prefer auditory, kinnesthetic and tactile learning style. Learning style has an influence on English learning achievement. The students who have good achievement tend to a variety of learning styles. The students who are inclined to tactile learning style have the most highest score. Therefore, The thesis comes to a conclusion that there are a certain relationship between the perceptual learning styles of senior high school students and English learning achievements. The teacher should adjust their own teaching strategies so as to match the different learning styles. The students should also develop their own learning styles so that they can learn to develop their strengths and avoid the weaker part of their learning.
