Student Engagement measured the time and energy that university student participate into the effective educational activities, and the level that university emphasis on the behavior of student participation. The survey about student Engagement concern on the whole process of college experience. Participation by students in the survey, college students can understand the various dimensions of effective participation in learning activities and influencing factors, and then analyze and evaluate the quality of higher education, for the institutions to provide empirical data to support the reform.First of all, this paper defines the University Student Engagement, then on analyses the theoretical and empirical research about Student Engagement at home and abroad, then combines with students in Xiangtan University, and adopts a questionnaire survey method to analyze the following issues: (1) analyze students participates into the course of study, extracurricular activities, peer interaction, teacher-student interaction and overall participation in campus activities; (2) use statistical techniques to analyze student participation is or not significantly different in gender, grade, academic nature, mode of living, urban and rural background, achievements; (3) analyze the influence that environmental factors infect student participate behavior on the four dimensions: the amount of reading or writing, the amount of homework, thinking activities, and school emphasis; (4) analyze self-assessment of students gains from work-related knowledge and skills, self-development, general development, and intellectual development; use the data of the student gains to analyze the influence of individual development to student participation; (6) analyze the influence of Student Engagement to student satisfaction. The results are: (1) the overall participation level is not high; (2) different individual characteristics of students in engagement level differences; (3) School of environmental factors and student participation was significantly related; (4) Student participation has a positive impact on the personal development; (5) Student participation has a positive effect on student satisfaction. Finally, based on the conclusions, this paper put forward some proposals to improve student participation.
