Urbanization is a certain stage which have to go through in social development. Rapid industrial development makes an influx of rural population to urban, while rural areas are quickly "swallowed" and becoming towns. Especially since the reform and opening up,China's rapid urbanization has lifted the country's modernization to a ne' level. However, accelerating steps of urbanization as well as increasing population of landless peasants and their various issues have been Chinese "New Three-agri" Problem, which have caused a widespread concern all over the society. Landless peasants have to change their roles during the trend of urbanization, which must be a hard process. According to theory of social role, individuals link to the big social structure by undertake the responsibilities of positions and behaviors, roles connect individuals and social structure. So research of role changing is more and more important during the whole process of social transformation.This article use HL community in Jiading District as the case. By case studyin, social survy, questionnaires, interviews, literature research, etc., the same group of people in HL community had been invesgated for the first time four years ago and now for the second time. This article foucs on reflecting the role changing of landless peasants during a period of time through invesgating and research, to look for the choke point of changing and some experience of governments'promoting process,then propose a solution on these basis.Within the invastigation data, the article analyze the role changing of landless peasants mainly in social security, employment, lifestyle, cultural life and so on. Using the fish-stab diagram method, the article gives an in-depth analysis on landle. peasants'difficulties in role changing from system, community, self and culture. In response to these difficulities, the article put forward some suggestions by combining with the local government initiatives such as community co-management system, the combination of job training and recommending, "Three-stage and One-home" education mode. The study shows the government should aim at lifting the level of spiritual civilization in the process of landless peasants'role changing. The "Three-stage and One-home" education mode mentioned in this article has its advance and efficiency, but obviously it should study deeper and wider, which need to be constantly explored. It's definite for landless peasants to keep some argricultur tradition and culture. Through rebuilding the living environment and cultural patterns, landless peasants will successfully complete the role changing, and turn into new city residents.
