The Ministry of Education promulgated Standards of English Curriculum for Full-time Compulsory Education in 2001. It definitely points out that instructors should try their best to put TBLT (Task-based language teaching) in practice in order to develop students'integrated language ability instead of indoctrinating language only. Since then, TBLT has been carried out in primary and middle schools all over the nation.Originally developed in the background of TESL, TBLT should be treated by considering the particular context in China.By making surveys, interviewing and analyzing teaching cases, the author states and discusses the current situation and existing problems of TBLT. The author introspects and discusses them from the perspectives of teachers, students, evaluating systems, etc. and comes up with feasible recommendations:to improve the abilities of English teachers; to combine traditional language teaching with TBLT; to create the activity pattern of "Interactive cooperation"; to establish reasonable evaluating system and so on. The author hopes to modify TBLT suitable for Chinese context in order to facilitate teachers to put it well into practice.
