This paper studies a theater where in a small town in central Hubei province. In order to investigate the interaction between different cultural patterns and the characteristics and track of the cultural changes of small town, it combs the 50 years changing experience based on specific local social and cultural background. The development of the theater has three stages. In this process, there are continuous interactions between the local culture of the town and the dominant culture standing for national consciousness, and also between the popular culture taking films as its example and pluralistic culture. At present, it's the time of globalization dominated by big cities and the increased popularity of consumerism. Small town culture seems to return home again, the local government picks up the fragments which are scattered or fused after decades of volatility then integrates and rebuilds them to find a new space for the survival and development of urban culture. This method is similar in cultural changes to other small Chinese towns.
