| Nowadays has witnessed the profound changes of population urbanization in global, as well as urbanization in China on an unprecedented scale. In China, small towns have played an indispensable role in the rapid pattern of population urbanization. However, they have not been taken seriously yet. In order to understand the capacity of population agglomeration in small towns, this paper, based on theory of population migration and small towns, on the premise of deconstruction of urbanization on city and town level, is going to take "city population" and "town population" as microcosmic perspective and do deepen research. Meanwhile, based on the analysis of factors of population agglomeration on small towns, the paper used factor analysis and cluster analysis to account for regional differences in Guangdong Province. Through above research, we can conclude as follows:Firstly, Small town is the main carrier of the primary period of urbanization. Although urbanization on Guangdong Province has experienced "Town-based" to "City-based", undeveloped areas are still in the stage of "Town-based urbanization""Town population" growth is the dominant force of urbanization.Secondly, Urban-rural population migration is the main source of the growth of urban population. Floating population accounted for half of the urban population in Guangdong province. Small town has priority to absorb floating population of short distance, while city has an advantage of gathering floating population of long distance, which indicates that population aggregation effect in the developed areas is significantly better than that in less developed areas.Last but not the least, non-agricultural industries agglomeration plays an important role on sustained population agglomeration. The employment of small town is slightly higher than that in city, which reveals that the employment structure in small towns match the labor structure better. |
