Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport that combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and apparatus manipulation with back ground music. It is a competitive gymnastics for women with high artistic quality. The development of Rhythmic gymnastics is period of stagnation which seriously influenced the future of it. In such a period, how to maintain a sustainable development of Rhythmic gymnastics is an issue worth studied in depth.The dissertation focuses on the current situation of the development of the Rhythmic gymnastics of Beijing's high school and the primary schools, along with the existing problems and the countermeasure as the primary target. The research will be conducted via three dimensions, the awareness of the high school and primary school students to the Rhythmic Gymnastics, the generality level of the Rhythmic gymnastics education provided in the schools, and the operation of the Rhythmic gymnastics clubs to summarize the current development status of the Rhythmic Gymnastics education in Beijing's high schools and primary schools. Via the methodologies of Documentation Wethod, Poll and Survey Method, and individual interview method, the author succeeds to research on the obstacles in the development of the Rhythmic gymnastics such as, lack of enough instructors, not enough advertising, etc. Based on the result of the research, the author also raises some recommendations that are constructive to the sustainable development of the Rhythmic Gymnastics education in the schools. In conclusion, the dissertation would have a positive effect on the improvement of the Rhythmic Gymnastics education.
