student assessment is always changing coupled with educational reform and social changes. Nowadays, student assessment takes on great changes.As we all know, student assessment is the main way to assessing education and student growth. By this way, students'advantages and disadvantages can be made clear, then their development direction can be determined; teachers can also make adjustments in order to obtain optimal teaching effect and finally make students meet the requirement of society. However, such assessment is one mean of controlling society and is a comparison between individual and overall. In school, evaluation criterion is made according to dominate class's intrest. The criterion has been carried out to every student since he stepped into school. As a result, the dominate class get sheepish students and society become stable. The student assessment reform encourages all-sided and whole-course assessment to students, which makes control more stricter and more meticulous.The eleven-plus, which is part of student assessment, is the main way to select students. The society needs talents with various levels, so selection is neccessary. The school undertakes the task ahead of time. Student assessment has the functions of evaluation and polarization. The school always makes differences among students by some standards, which in fact divides students into different grades. Although student assessment reform calls on to lighten the comparison, the result is almost the same as before. The excellent students have the particularity which satisfies the ruler's requirement. Giving special treatment to excellent students can get their loyalty. Furthermore, the ruler can make examples of excellent students for other students in order to domesticate them. Such is also a social-control logic.The examination system which regards school record as selection standard makes the students disadvantaged whose family capital are poor. Nowadays, the test content places extra emphasis on scope of knowledge and abilites, which makes bottom students more disadvantaged. Test fornats have also changed which include independent proposition, interview, comprehensive-quality assessment and so on, which are focused on personal characteristics. The personal characteristecs are embodied cultural capital. Capitals can be converted to one another, so economical capital and social capital ofen are converted to cultural capital, which will help students of upper classes get the final victory. The examination system reform may give full play to capital advantages.Student assessment should have the function of feedback and discrimination and make less comparison. It's the only way to make students unrestrained and happy.
