Reading is a main approach to learning English, because student could improve their abilities and put what they've learnt into practice. In the past time, researches on reading have developed greatly. Reading is no longer regarded as a passive process of intaking literal messages, but an active thought activity.This dissertation mainly discusses the Communicative Language Teaching on the teaching of English reading. The communicative approach was first put forward in the 1970s, and it was widely spread in the 1980s in China. The application of communicative approach makes a difference in traditional reading class. Communicative Approach encourages students to develop their communicative competence through meaningful communication. The task-based reading reaching approach is considered as the development of the Communicative Language Teaching. Reading is an interactive process that incorporates components such as readers, skills, knowledge, and input and is regarded as a general ability that subsumes specific reading skills. In this passage, we mainly discussed on how to apply the Communicative Language Teaching theory to English reading comprehension teaching practice and we made a quantitative research on the effectiveness of the Communicative Language Teaching method.Though the Communicative Language Teaching has encountered many difficulties in actual English teaching, we should take it as the fundamental principle in English teaching. The Communicative Language Teaching helps to foster students' communicative language production and is believed to be an ideal teaching method to roundly develop students' abilities.
