Motivating the innovation capacity plays an important role in developing a pool of high-quality faculty in higher education institutions.From the view of incentive theory, sense of professional accomplishment, achievement motivation and innovation behavior have the important correlations. The studies of university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment were not popular and deep in China. This study has studied university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment, achievement motivation and innovation behavior, in order to know about the conditions of university teachers, and provide the suggestions and methods to improve and motivate university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment.The thesis has been studied in both of the quantitative and qualitative ways. It used Sense of Personal Accomplishment Scale, Achievement Motivation Scale, and Source of University Teachers'Personal Accomplishment Scale. The study surveyed 184 university teachers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Main conclusions are as follows:1. The level of university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment is higher than others.2. The level of university teachers'achievement motivation is medium. The motivation of success is higher than the motivation of avoiding failure. The university teachers'achievement motivation is very low in the middle-aged.3. There are significant correlations between the university teachers' sense of professional accomplishment and the achievement motivation. The higher the sense of professional accomplishment is, the higher the motivation of success is and the lower the motivation of avoiding failure is.4. From the working function, the source of the university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment is mainly from research and teaching. From the incentive theory, the source of the university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment is mainly from support of the condition and achievement experience.The study has shown the condition of university teachers'sense of professional accomplishment. It has proved the important relationship between the sense of professional accomplishment and the achievement motivation. It has found the source of the university teachers'sense of professional accomplishmentThe thesis suggested as follows: improve the support of the condition as well as the sense of professional accomplishment; improve the system of the university teachers'training, especially for the young university teachers; increase a little authority of the university teachers'freedom and administration.
