Research On The Prevention And Crisis Intervention Of College Students' Suicide

As suicide has become the global concern of public health, mental and social problem today, college students as a special group in the community, their suicide becomes more extensively concerned by people in the society. In recent years, the suicide rate of college students is climbing, and the phenomenon of college students' committing suicide hits the newspapers frequently. While we sigh with regret, it's more significant for us to do deep research on the behavior of college students' suicide and its influencing factors. Furthermore, we can offer an effective strategy for prevention and crisis intervention of college students'suicide, which is also vital to protect college students' safety and maintain harmony and stability of school, family and society.On the basic of abundant collection and reading of literatures, combining statistics and case analysis, the paper presents a more comprehensive understanding of current situations and characteristics of college students' suicide. For one thing, this paper means to dig deeper into the posthumous papers of the college students who have died in suicide and expounds the influencing factors of the college students'suicide. For anther thing, it presents related strategies on how to prevent and intervene the college students'suicide. The basic framework of this paper is as follows:The part of introduction introduces the background, significance and methods of this research briefly, hackles the correlative researches at home and abroad emphatically, and then defines the correlative concepts. The second part overviews the general situations of suicide and introduces emphatically the various theoretical orientations about the suicide researches, including the psychological, social and biomedical theoretical orientations. The third part, in order to find out the current situation and characteristics about the college students'suicide comprehensively, collects the coverage and correlative data about the college students'suicide from 2001 to 2008 by the network, performs simple statistical analysis, and summarizes the characteristics of college students' suicide in recent years, The characteristics mainly act as follows:the number and proportion of suicide have been increasing year by year; the female suicide rate has been higher than that of men; science students higher than liberal arts students slightly; the relative proportion of graduate students is higher than college students; causes of suicide are diverse and relatively concentrated; the number of the suicide is the most at the beginning and the ending of the school year, while lower in the vocation; the suicide forms are various and jumping from the buildings is the most common way. Meanwhile it collects the reports of suicides and the suicide notes, combined with the relevant background, in-depth understanding of their physical and mental state and their thoughts before suicide in order to analyze the reasons of the suicide. The fourth part analyzes the factors of college students' suicide on the basis of existing literature, statistical data and case, and divides them into the external factors, the internal factors and life events factors. External factors are also divided into macro external factors which contain the influence of society change and the micro external factors which contain the impact of family and school. The internal factors describe the personality factors and psychological factors which influence suicide behaviors principally. The life event factors are divided into interpersonal problems, stress of learning, emotional frustration and employment pressure. The fifth section puts forward the prevention and intervention strategies of college students'suicide and presents several principles about that. The principles are admission screening, dynamic update, classification before prevention; prevent polymerization; universities as the main body, society and families altogether to prevent. It also gives specific prevention and intervention strategies for the students with different situations.
