Chinese language is an important part of human culture. As one of the main carrier of the culture, the textbooks of Chinese language are rich in historical culture and the traditional virtues of the Chinese people and it has the function of carrying and spreading the knowledge of history. But the present textbooks of Chinese language in the primary and secondary schools have lots of limits in bearing knowledge of history, and there is little research findings on related fields. Therefore, the author tries to look into the present conditions that the textbooks of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools carry and spread the knowledge of history from the angle of history, and goes on to discuss some phenomena and problems on this issue.This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part, as the basic chapter, briefly introduces the category, the specific reflection, and functions of Chinese language textbooks carrying and spreading the knowledge of history. It also affirms the necessity of the textbooks of Chinese language on the issue of carrying and spreading the knowledge of history, laying theoretical foundation for the following argument. The second part, as the key part of this paper, based on the analysis in the previous chapter, focuses on the new curriculum reform of textbooks of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools and conducts a statistics on the contents and quantities of history knowledge that the textbooks have carried. On this basis, the author outlines the present conditions that the Chinese language textbooks of primary and secondary schools carry and pass on knowledge of history. It goes on to analyze the features of the new material in bearing historical knowledge and the trend of the reform in teaching and research in this field. This chapter provides the basis of the facts for the third part. The third part reflects on the current problems of textbooks of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools in bearing history knowledge and offers some constructive suggestions by using the historical principles, ideas and methods.So far as research methods are concerned, the author mainly uses the documentary and comparative research methods in this thesis. Using the documentary research method, a large number of related documentary materials are collected. This method is mainly used when discussing the curriculum of Chinese language, the functions of Chinese language textbooks, and historical facts. The comparative research method is primarily used to analyze the present condition that the textbooks of Chinese language in primary and secondary schools carry and pass on knowledge of history. By comparing different versions of the new textbooks, and the textbooks printed before and after the new curriculum reform, it demonstrates the features of new textbooks carrying knowledge of history and the main trends in education reform in that area.
