In the past two decades,the city of Hongkong has moved from a British colony to a special administrative region dominated by Chinese government since 1997,which has now moved on to the age of 21st century. Meanwhile, the history textbooks have also gone through such developing process from first being set up to theissue of "Course Guidelines of Secondary Schools------Subject ofChinese History(from junior one to three)" in 1997,and then to the raise of the new aims of the curriculum reform in 2001. In this essay,the author is trying to analyze the transitions and the improvements of Hongkong secondary schools' Chinese history textbooks.The analysis is wonderfully up-to-date, honestly points out the strengths and weaknesses of the textbooks as well as give some valuable suggestions for further improvement.It mainly consists of four parts.The first three parts all highlight the features and the changes of the textbooks,whose emphases relatively lie on the layout,the intensive parts and the extensive ones.The second and the third parts are the essay core,which is made up of the analyses of the introductive texts,the basic texts,the extended research learning,the before-class summary,the historical pictures used in illstrations and the exercise organizing.The last part focuses on comparing of the drawing conclusions.
