With the rapid development of economy, the increasing enrollment of students is on a large scale in vocational school, which has high requirements for students in secondary vocational school. However, the quality of these students is quite bad, thus, more and more problems occur in English teaching. How to improve the effect of English teaching becomes a hot spot in vocational education. Students have poor foundations, what's more, their autonomous learning is weak. The students in the Secondary Vocational Schools have their own characteristics so that the traditional teaching mode can not meet the needs of English teaching in vocational schools. So English Graded Teaching with its special charm begins to show up.The research is to comprehensively analyze English Graded Teaching from its theories and practice. Firstly, the current educational situations are analyzed carefully; secondly, the current study situation of English Graded Teaching at home and abroad are explored; At last, English Graded Teaching is summarized from the result of teaching practice and the experiment of English Graded Teaching in the 2010 Trade English Majors in Changde Normal School. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate whether the English Graded Teaching can increase the teaching effect in English class effectively. It uses the right ways:the use of documentary method, survey, experiment, comparison and other scientific methods. The results of examinations and questionnaires prove that English Graded Teaching is a practical method to English teaching efficiency. The experiments of English Graded Teaching realize the maximum return of students' study with the better stimulation of their interest in English learning, increasing their curiosity and stimulating their enthusiasm. English Graded Teaching can promote their autonomous learning ability, which has the obvious positive effect to improve their English progress and non-intellectual factors.The writing is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, mainly introducing the research's background, significance, purpose and so on; The second chapter is literature review, discussing the current research situation both at home and abroad, analyzing the research of English Graded Teaching and its theory development and practice. The third chapter introduces the experiment of English Graded Teaching in secondary vocational schools like Changde Normal School as an example, involving the purpose of the experiment, methods, processes and data collection, etc.; Chapter four is about the experimental results and analysis of English Graded Teaching, focusing on the collation, analysis and evaluation of test results and questionnaire results. The experiment result indicates that English Graded Teaching can improve the teaching efficiency of English class and the students'autonomous learning as well. The final chapter is the conclusion, discussing the enlightenments, roles, limitations, issues and developing trends of English Graded Teaching, which offers proposals on future relative studies.
