Global economic integration and increasing competition for talents has rapidly developed. Vocational students with a high English level are urgently needed in all sorts of vocations. English has become an important tool in international exchanges and competition. English teaching in Secondary Vocational School should meet the needs of market economic development. It is vital to improve their English learning by effective teaching method. However how to carry out English teaching effective and improve the students’ English has become an urgent problem.English teaching has adopted teacher-centered teaching model in some Secondary Vocational Schools. This teaching model pays attention to “teaching” but ignores “learning”. In fact, the key to improve the students’ English learning efficiency is to arouse their interests and initiative. This passage takes it as the breakthrough point. And this paper also use learning theory, teaching theory and linguistic theory as the theoretical support. According to the surveys of Shi Jiazhuang Secondary Vocational Schools, it is found that the principal teaching methods in class are mainly used lecture method, self-study, practicing method and catechetical method. Yet students are keen on interactive method, discussion teaching and another method which stimulates students’ interest in class. It shows that English teachers in the Secondary Vocational School don’t form a clear and scientific system during the teaching process. They have classes by their several-year experiences. The usage of teaching method reflects strong utilitarian. So it doesn’t play an important role in teaching method. Based on this, this passage analyses three factors which influences the reform of English teaching method in Shi Jiazhuang Secondary Vocational Schools. They are teachers, students and school.Meanwhile, this passage offers proposals on the reform of teaching methods from five aspects: we should train the teachers’ teaching method, improve the teaching scene, innovate the teaching evaluation, change the students’ learning style and strengthen the construction of teaching staff.
