Based on the data from a sample survey in Fujian province in 2009, this paper divides the strategies of the floating population in selecting the places for their children's schooling into 3 categories, i.e. all children migrating with the parents, all left-behind and some migrating with the parents and some left-behind, and explores factors affecting the selection of such strategies. The Results show that the selection of the strategies is significant affected by migrants'family size, their proportion of family members in the city, the number of their children, their family migration strategy, their family income level, the residential location of the migrant spouse, the type of migrant housing in the city. In addition, the selection of such strategies is also affected by migrant personal social and economic characteristics and their settlement intention in some degree. Based on the analytical framework of new economics of migration, the paper discusses the theoretical significance of above results, and argues that the strategies of the floating population in selecting the places for their children's schooling are rational decisions based on full consideration of their family resources, which are in the best interests of their families. In the end, this paper introduces relative offical policies and make some discussion. Further more, the writer gives some suggestions for the educational improvement of floating population's children.
