The development of society needs a number of mathematical gifted students who are most valuable resource for a country. Therefore, many countries pay attention to the cultivation of the gifted students. This case study investigates the current situation and existing problems of mathematical gifted students who come from a"international class"in Suzhou NO.1 High School.This case study investigated the three mathematical gifted students in senior one by questionnaire and interview to analyse the cause of becoming a gifted student. The investigation revealed the following factors contributing to students'success in mathematics: the interest in mathematics, the attention to mathematical study method and learning efficiency, the readiness to handle difficult mathematical problems, the determination to face the difficult, the preference of independent thinking, the enlightenment education from parents, the teacher's attention and guidance and so on. On this basis, this paper puts forward some strategies of cultivating mathematical gifted students from school education and family education, hoping to provide some references for mathematics education researchers and the student's parents.
