In English teaching of junior school, grammar teaching is a very important aspect. Both teachers and students focus on it. However, according to students, English grammar is the weak point in their English learning. The writer did questionnaire among the Grade 9 students in The Middle School Attached to Qinghai Normal University. Through this questionnaire, the writer knows the general English grammar learning situation of junior school students. At the same time, the writer also knows some problems happened in the teaching process. To teachers, their teaching method may cause students slow progress in learning English. Students will lose their interests and make grammar errors frequently when learning English because of the improper teaching method that teacher applied in class. This thesis intends to discuss what a proper English teaching method is in the class which can promote teaching. Moreover, learners' personal variations will affect English learning. There are some aspects which affect students' English learning rate: cognitive styles, language learning and using strategies, the learning motivation and interest on English. The writer will discuss the above factors in this paper.Error Analysis is an important branch of applied linguistics, which aroused in the late 1960s. It enriched and promoted the development of second language acquisition theory. It transferred the focus to students themselves and errors. Error analysis thinks errors as a kind of sources of studying second language acquisition; it is also real reflection of students' learning process. The writer hopes to analyze the causes of grammar errors according to Corder's analyzing procedure:collecting, identifying, classifying, explaining and evaluating. Some test papers, compositions and textbooks collected from three junior schools as research materials. The writer also precedes classroom observation lasting for one month in order to give more convenient and correct suggestions to students and teachers. Through the research, the writer advocates three solutions:combining the grammar-translation teaching method and task-based approach; using grammar learning strategies; inspiring students learning motivation and enthusiasm. The thesis contains 5 chapters.
