With the new course standard and reform of new course being gradually implemented, teaching methods of Chinese course have been greatly changed. And The Chinese course has gradually become a course which teaches life philosophy or life skills rather than basic language knowledge, just as what the Macro-Chinese language teaching advocates: the language extension and the life are equal. Based on this kind of change, daily language teaching needs some new breakthroughs. one of the problems universally concerned by language educator, is how to provide students with a wider view and promote them language accomplishment on the basis of a limited universe and textbooks. The issue covered a wide field, therefore, this paper chooses an angle of"expansion in middle-school language education"to analyze and study, hoping to find out a new path to improve language teaching and offer some help to frontline teachers.First, this paper generally illustrates the connotation and the actual meaning of expansion in middle-school language education. This paper has made a generalized orientation of expansion which bases on improving students'text-reading skills and development, and takes the increase of their language quality as the ultimate goal. Then, it analyzes the unique features of expansion in language teaching, namely Chinese, necessity, moderate degree and progressiveness. After that, it illustrates the significance of expansion in middle-school language education from five aspects.Second, this paper analyze the implementing actuality of expansion in middle-school language education. On the form of expansion, this paper describes three kinds of expansion, namely text-based expansion, starting-point-with-text expansion and expansion which takes opportunity of synthetically using course source, combining with journals, papers and other related information. When analyzing the misunderstandings of expansion, it combines with cases of actual teaching and evolves three common teaching misunderstandings, namely without text-sense, formalization, without generated sense, many preinstall traces, without plan-sense and wilful way.Finally, after illustrating the principles of expansion implementing in actual teaching, combining with cases of actual teaching ,this paper proposes some specific and manageable strategies from four angle, namely text analysis, capability training, integration of resources and space-time use.
