Since the end of the 20th century, studies on the theory of self-regulated learning and the application achievement have sprung up and been emerging in an endless stream like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. The Education Departments of various countries regard fostering self-regulated learning as an important objective. Our basic education reform has explicitly considered the leading of students'self-regulated learning, cooperative learning and inquiry learning as an important task of converting the learning style of students. It is a major responsibility of school education to foster students'capability of self-regulated learning, so that they become the real master of learning, which can lay a foundation in their lifelong development. As high school geography teacher, how to develop students'self-regulated learning ability and how to lay a good foundation for their lifelong learning have become an unavoidable topic among large geography teachers.The paper proceeds its analysis based on high school geography self-regulated learning ability cultivation. Firstly, it adopts literature review method to straighten out the concepts and theories of self-regulated learning and research status at home and abroad. Secondly, it proceeds from the cognitive characteristics of geography and the cognitive level of high school students to conduct a survey and analysis on high school students' self-regulated learning status and its influencing factors via modern education theories. Moreover, it puts forward geography self-regulated learning patterns according to the survey findings and the influencing factors. Finally, it conducts an experimental research on students' geography self-regulated learning ability cultivation in high school geography classes. According to the data derived from the experimental research, we can find that self-regulated learning patterns are conducive for students to improve their geography learning interests and academic record, and are helpful to change their geography learning attitudes and learning styles.The study is a teaching practice with the guidelines of new course ideas, which will make geography class radiate new vigor. In that case, students will love to learn, be willing to learn and learn with great joy, which fully reflects the initiative and subjectivity of students. It can provide a reference for the first tier geography teachers to train their students to equip with self-regulated learning ability effectively.
