Education for girls can not only achieve the basic rights of girls accessing to education, but also play a key role in national economic growth, social harmony and human development. Gender inequality in Uganda has been lasted for a long time. The factors about social, economic, family and cultural seriously hampered the development of girl's education. After the independence of Uganda, gender has become the center of the government development agenda, the expansion of education at all levels has been increased the chances of girl's accessing to education, girl's basic education has developed rapidly. The study of girl's basic education in Uganda has important practical significance of the promotion of national gender equality and education equity. Girl's own development to the society has important implications and promoting the development of girl's basic education not only benefit to personal but also to the society and family.This dissertation exploring girl's basic education uses historical analyze, literature analyze, comparative analyze and a large number of detailed data and information on the study. In this paper, it has described the history evolution of girl's basic education in Uganda, analyzed the main factors that impact the girl's basic education, stated the obstacles encountered in the course and introduced the support measures taking by the national, the international community and non-governmental organizations. Lastly, it has summarized the achievements and challenges in the process of improving girl's basic education in Uganda.This paper is divided into five parts, they are mainly included:The introduction has briefly described the research background, purpose, content and methods, and research status of the problem at home and abroad. The second part described the history of girl's basic education in Uganda. Before independence, the institutions can provide education for girls are mainly church schools, including the Anglican schools, Catholic schools and Muslim schools. After independence, Ugandan government-funded primary schools are almost coeducational, but also have established a number of independent girl's school, coeducational schools, and boarding schools, girl's education has been developed slowly.The third part discussed the major factor which influenced the development of girl's basic education. The factors from family include the attitude of parents and the socio-economic conditions of family; social factors include marital system, natural and historical, political and other factors, the factors that from the education system itself include subject offerings and options, role models, career guidance and counseling.The fourth part described girl's basic education promoting measures from the government of Uganda, the international community and non-governmental organizations. The ggovernment protect the right of the girls accessing to education in the legal aspects, and under the promotion of the international community and civic organizations, they has implemented a number of interventions to expand girl's enrollment, such as donations of books, supporting science subjects for girls, scholarships, Girls Education Movement, improving school infrastructure, Early Childhood Development programs, friendly schools and African Girls Education Initiative.Finally, the last part summarized the t the achievements of girl's basic education in Uganda and pointed the challenges the Uganda faced. Girl's basic education in Uganda has made a great progress, such as female enrollment rates has been improved, the chances of accessing to school has been raised, the learning environment of school is more conducive, girl's illiteracy rate has been reduced and some of the obstacles of girl's enrollment has been eliminated. However, due to the weak economic and educational foundation, the improvement of girl's basic education in Uganda still needs a long process.
