Compared with passive teaching method and automatic teaching method, autonomy teaching method means that the learners can realize their own disadvantages in their knowledge and abilities, and adjust actively their developmental direction and study strategies based on their abilities and motivations for learning, and eager to learn more knowledge, skills, abilities and so on.It is said on the New Standard for New Course that learning by experience, participation, cooperation and communication and Task-based Language Teaching are promoted......independent learning ability......build the solid foundation for the long-term development of the students. This requires that we teachers should renew our traditional education ideas, and the students themselves should also change their traditional study ways. Teachers should pay more attention to the students'needs and potentialities, explore various forms of interaction between teachers and students, inspire their creativity, and be responsible for the students' future and their life-long development. In order to improving class teaching efficiency and develop the students'ability to study independently, at the beginning of the year 2008, my school Zhongshan Experimental Senior School carries out teaching experiments.Under the guidance of my school teaching experiments, based on the students' actual English levels and the real situations of the English teaching in Senior One, and along with some theories and studies on autonomy teaching method, I carried out a relative experiment for one semester, which proves that it is probable for my school to Popularize the autonomy teaching method in English language teaching.
