As China entered WTO, English is more and more important to the whole country and individuals. So Chinese-English bilingual teaching is widely tried and practiced. But most trials seemed failed. On the one hand, many teachers do not know the bilingual teaching theory very well. On the other hand, qualified bilingual teaching teachers and textbooks are severely not enough. In 2008, an international department was set up in my working school, Wuhan NO4 Middle School. This department is cooperated with other schools in foreign countries and bilingual teaching is practiced there. So I want to know if the model is effective. And there are a variety of bilingual teaching models. Among them, immersion model has been proved to be the most successful one. So I also want to know if the immersion model under Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run program is even more effective. So my research questions are:Question 1:Is Chinese-English bilingual teaching more effective than regular English teaching?Question 2:Is immersion model more effective than other models in Chinese-English bilingual teaching?Question 3:Is immersion model under Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run program more effective and practical than other models in Chinese-English bilingual teaching?In order to find out the above questions, I read many articles about Chinese-English bilingual teaching. And I also asked many teachers and students in the international department in my working school. All these prove that immersion model under Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run program is more effective and practical than other models in Chinese-English bilingual teaching.But there is still some problems in the bilingual teaching in the international department in my working school.So I gave some suggestions in this paper to improve the bilingual teaching in my school.
