In China, due to the examination-oriented education system, for a very long time, high school education has been working for high scores and the college entrance examination rather than for the ways to study. In Mathematics Teaching, the examination results are more important than the ways to study. So many teachers believe:the more knowledge and training are given in Mathematics teaching, the better examination results are more important than students achieve be. But this teaching approach leads to a big problem that more and more high school students have trouble in Mathematics study.Although individuals are different in their IQ, they can still reach the math teaching goals if they have no mental problem. Based on this view, the author does a research on 20 lagging-behind students from her school. To get a convincing result, the 20 students, some boys and some girls, have different characters, family grounds, and different reasons for lagging behind. In-and After-Class Observation is mainly used to obtain data. And interview is combined to get the real thoughts from students.Through analyzing the data, the author makes a comparison between the top students and those lagging-behind ones, and then draws a better conclusion.Based on this research and the author's many years teaching experience, several results for lagging behind students can be discovered:1. The reasons for lagging behind are many and complex;2. To help those lagging-behind students, tactics should involve students themselvs, their parents and teachers as well;3. Appropriate and effective teaching approach is the direct way to solve the above problem;4. Priority should be given to change teachers'teaching concepts and classroom teaching models, this is most important in this article;5. Through case study, some appropriate teaching approaches or tactics can be found to help those lagging-behind ones.
