Ethnic dess is the outward manifestation of ethnic culture. It reflects the social, political, economic, and cultural information. The traditional clothing of Sani people of Shi Lin,Yunnan, as a branch of the Yi's clothing, has its own distinct characteristics and rich cultural heritage. It is not only the expression of the spirit of ethnic groups but also the inheritance and creation in its special natural and social environment. As well as other cultural forms of the ethnic group, it has the same ethnic characteristics and reflects its profound history and culture.Sani people is at the stage of transition from traditional civilization to modern civilization and from the traditional culture to modern culture. Facing the great social, economic and cultural transformation, Sani's traditional clothing is also changing. Therefore, this paper, using comparative research method combined with ethnic and other related research methods, through a large number of on-site information and examples, discusses on two aspects and learns more about the traditional clothing of Sani in Shilin from the history of the development of Sani's clothing and comparation of dress of other surrounding ethnic groups. This paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter outlines the overall appearance of Shilin,Yunnan and introduces the subjective and objective conditions of its living and development. Chapter two overviews Sani's clothing features and the third chapter briefly discusses the clothing of surrounding nationalities and ethnic groups, compares it with the Sani's, analyzes the causes of similarities and differences and understands the relationship between them. The fourth chapter describes the characteristics of changes in Sani's traditional dress and analyzes the causes leading to its changes with a conclusion at the end.
