"The ordinary high school history curriculum standards"has clearly defined the three-dimensional objective of the current high school history course, namely, knowledge and ability, process and method, emotional attitude and values. The reachable teaching aim achieved by using historical data happens to agree with the three-dimensional objective advocated by the new curriculum. The proper use of historical data in history teaching can not only inspire students'interest in learning and enhance students'learning efficiency, but also help students to develop the ability to extract the effective information from historical data, analyze problems and then solve them. Through historical data, students can have a good understanding of the 5000-year glorious history of our country from different perspectives, which will further stimulate students'national pride and confidence. This paper makes a detailed explanation of the use of historical data in history teaching and the cultivation of high school students'history thinking ability. Combining the history teaching practice, this paper makes a brief classification and definition of the historical data and history thinking ability as well as define the relationship between historical data and the cultivation of students'history thinking ability, thus making it easy for teachers to select proper historical data to develop students various history thinking ability. In this paper, the high school history course is classified into three types: new lesson teaching, exercise explanation and review. Besides, this paper respectively introduces the effective application of historical data to teaching in the three different types of lessons in order to cultivate students history thinking ability. Last but not least, from four aspects, this paper discusses the problems worthy of attention in the use of historical data, which enables teachers to make timely arrangements with over-all consideration to make the most of the effect that the historical data have on teaching.
