Purposes: Using high speed cameras and motion analysis technology, Kinematics data were collected from elite sprinters in Suzhou. The study analyzed and identified the characteristics of sprint start and the approach run of the athletes and compared these parameters with outstanding runners abroad, in order to find and diagnose the skills that to be improved. The data collected in this paper would be a helpful material for the future study. Methods: Six elite sprint runners participated in this study, The kinematic parameters of the sprint start were established on the basis of a 2-D kinematic analysis, using two high-speed camera with a frequency of 100 frames/sec. the parameters were analyzed and compared with top sprint runners in the world. Results: The technology of our elite sprint runner is close to their contestant overseas; During accelerated phase of running, the duration of the support leg in contact with the ground reduces gradually along with the increasing speed. Partial of the athletes'supporting time is excessively long while the length of stride varied between subjects; The distance between the center of gravity projection point and foot strike point is reducing gradually, the foot strike point moves ahead gradually before the center of gravity projection point. The torso lifts, namely the center of gravity promotion rhythm (promotion speed) varied with some athletes bent torso insufficiently. Conclusions: Compared with outstanding runners, The Suzhou outstanding sprinters possess a reasonable"set"position. During the accelerated stage, partial athletes possibly run with a unreasonable stride length at the beginning of the start. The rhythm need to be controlled. We also suggested that the torso promotion rhythm need to be controlled.
