The common method has a certain universal meaning to solve problems. It usually takes the main elementary knowledge as the basis and the essential method as the skill. The solution is suitable to the general rule of thinking and easy to the use of the overwhelming students. Specially, it also can solve a large quantity of basic mathematical problems.Regardless of teaching or studying, the mathematics understanding of essence is very important and the common method is precisely direct to manifest mathematics essential problems. This paper mainly consists of two aspects, in the theory stratification plane, showing the relations between the common method and the math thought, the common method and the double-base, and the common method and the exercise teaching. In the practice stratification plane, it discovers the insufficiency by the way of investigating the students'methods which used in solving the concrete problems. Considering for the teachers, we can conclude that the teachers'ability of multi-topic solution assurance is insufficient; the teachers are lack of carrying on the solution of the algorithmization induction in teaching and teaching to the mathematics essence behind mathematical method manifests insufficiently. Moreover, this paper analyses the function value territory problem of the CEE (college entrance examination) in the recent three years in Jiangsu. It is not only the suggestion in teaching, but also manifests the importance of common method in CEE.Finally, we have some suggestions about teaching: paying great attention to the basic subject, standing out the essence of the question and emphasizing algorithm thought. And it provides some help in common method teaching.
