It has been one of importance for the current foundation educational reform to make the teachers professional, because it requires better qualifications for teachers in primary schools. It is also well known that to do teaching reflection is an effective way to help teachers improve their teaching skill. However, most scholars constructs on theory framework, rather than research on the teaching reflection in practice. Additionally, there have been so many vague identifications and divergent points on some basic theories. To clarify these problems, this paper focuses on the theories and real practice on teaching reflection of teachers in a primary school as its content. One thing, it makes the theory part as the reference of teaching reflection in practice. And the other thing, the theory part is built on investigation of teaching implementation.For the first part of this thesis, I have done a work of theory sorted out. This paper defines what reflection and teaching reflection are, as well as the feature, significance, category, and methods of teaching reflection by a literature review.For the second part, this paper contains an investigation of teaching reflection in practice. I chose all teachers of 12 primary schools in a city as my research subjects so that I could questionnaire them, interview them, collect their materials, and observe them in these schools. All these work helps me to inspect and analyze teaching reflection comprehensively, deeply, and coherently.It gets five kinds of phenomenon by this investigation. They are a) few teachers could do teaching reflection often, because most teachers agree that it is of great valuable to reflect, but cannot do it, b) ways for teaching reflection are so similar, c)attitudes towards the suggestions of colleagues and students are different, d) the content that teaching reflection concerns are so regular and rigid, e) teaching environment is conductive to teaching reflection. To solve these problems, it is necessary to find out the reasons. On the base of theory part, teachers cannot do teaching reflection well, because of some internal and external limitations.As above, there could be six strategies for teachers to improve their teaching reflection, a) teachers should strengthen their reflection conception and its mechanism, b) enhance theories on education in order to promote teaching qualification, c) keep teaching reflection diary to be an inhabit, e) make teaching reflection efficient based on comprehensive methods, f) stable substance and better conditions ensures better reflection, and g) construct teaching reflection atmosphere and a rational reflection system.
