Currently, there has been an often occurrence of college students'self-denial and indifference to life, implying the under-emphasis of education on life, esp. life values in colleges and universities. College years are usually regarded as a critical period during which the students are experiencing a tough period of conflicts and choices of views on life, the world and values which are gradually developed and consolidated. This appears to be a vulnerable period for the young generation in that they may be easily affected by the negative parts of their views on the outside world, which would result in a lack of confidence for future. College students, as we know, are taken as the future of the whole nation, and their development imposes great importance on the safety and happiness of billions of families, and on the accomplishment of China's social prosperity. Thereafter, it appears vitally important to enhance the education of life values on the college students in that it is a necessity to implement the human-oriented scientific outlook on development and prepare for a peaceful and harmonious society. Besides, it has become a new challenge for higher education and has always been taken as an important task in ideological and political propagation. And this is true with the teaching staff in colleges and universities. Accordingly, life education weighs an important part in college and still remains one of the most impending tasks encountering higher institutions today. This study, applying the methods of summarizing, open questionnaires and interviewing, categorizes the college students'life values into various groups to create appropriate questions which are evaluated and revised to make final version. In our questionnaires, we have applied Liket5 into the recording of all answers collected from 774 undergraduates involved, necessarily as a deeper observation on the status quo of life values today's college students hold. The conclusion is, anyway, encouraging, generally as follows:Ⅰ.The college students'life values drop into four categories: being positively aggressive, cherishing life, passive and perplexed, and parochially paranoid. Ⅱ. Our College Students'Views on Life Values questionnaire has won great reliability and validity which could be used to measure the students'life values.Ⅲ.Generally, the majority of the college students hold positive views on life values while a few others remain passive, narrow-minded and paranoid.Ⅳ. College students'life values are diversified on sex, grade, major, education, birthplace, and also on whether he or she is the only child in the family, which proves to be an important factor that influences their attitudes towards life values.
