Yunnan University's Internationalisation Strategy Under The "Bridgehead" Construction

Higher education's internationalization has been regarded as an important national strategy in many western developed countries, and it is also pursued by the world-class universities. This research aims to analyzes the strategic environment of Yunnan University's internationalization under the "Bridgehead" Construction, and proposes the plans for Yunnan University's internationalization strategy. Among the researches in the higher education's internationalization only a few touches the universities' internationalization strategy, this paper therefore provides a supplement to the higher education's internationalization theory, and a guide for Yunnan University's internationalization.Through the method of interview, literature review and questionnaire, the author introduces the related theories and literatures in both foreign and domestic research, summarizes and compares the inte7rnationalization in some foreign and domestic reputed universities, and drew some lessons from the successful internationalization of these universities. Then the author analyzes the external opportunities and threats faced by Yunnan University, and the internal advantages and disadvantages of Yunnan University in striving for internationalization. The paper argues that the "Bridgehead" Strategy requires universities in Yunnan Province to enhance internationalization and to train internationalized personnel. At last, the paper proposes the plans for Yunnan University's internationalization strategy in responsive to the "Bridgehead" Strategy as well as to the internal need of the university's development.
