| This study examines the internationalization strategies of a school inone of China’s first-class universities. With the theoretical construct ofKeller’s university’s strategy of internationalization, this case study willemploy in-depth interview as the main method of data collection. Theresearch findings demonstrate that, on one hand, the case school positsitself in a marginal place in the system, which can be shown in the hugegap with world renowned business schools; while on the other hand, thecase school feels itself right in the loop or even at the pivotal point of theinternationalization process, with the support of the whole university’sadvocacy of internalization, as well as the influence of the public demandand subject development. Therefore, the seemingly contradictory conceptof self-realization makes the case school act as a "follower" in terms ofinternationalization strategy-by trying "import" to catch up with thefirst-class peers. This study is an attempt in China under the framework ofKeller theory about international strategy and intends to enrich and expandthe development of the framework. |
