Since 1999, graduate education has experienced large-scale enrollment expansion, while as a consequence, the value of graduate degree is greatly depreciated, the quality of education is declining. Our society has attached more and more importance to graduate education. With the reform of postgraduate education, it has shifted from scale expansion to quality improvement. It is highly significant to improve the quality of graduate education through establishing a mechanism featured by elimination roles This paper, based on hypothesis, two-factor theory, analyzes the current situation of elimination mechanism both at home and aboard and explains the necessity and feasibility of establishing elimination mechanism in China. The paper further suggests that we should establish a scientific, systematic, flexible and dynamic graduate elimination mechanism. The author also explains the current problems of elimination mechanism in China through the use of Excel statistical analysis, literature review, and questionnaire survey combined qualitative and quantitative methods, selection of new members from the graduate students, mid-term assessment, graduation and follow-up treatment measures. This thesis tries to explore some methods to improve our elimination mechanism by combining the advanced experience of foreign countries and our own characteristic.
