Tennis is a sport which possesses deep culture background and graceful properties and which is suitable for people's need of pursuing fashion and focusing on health. As a significant leisure entertainment physical item, tennis has gradually enjoyed acceptance and popularity among modern university students and become one of the favorite courses in universities in recent years. With the blooming of the sport in many universities in Shandong Province, tennis sport has become a main content of PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities. But the development of tennis sport in universities in Shandong is relatively slow, owing to the restriction of both subjective and objective conditions. In this thesis, several kinds of methods are used, such as questionnaire survey method, literature data, expert interviews, mathematical statistics, and logical analysis. Through analyzing the situation of tennis curriculum models within colleges and universities in Shandong Province, the thesis proposes optimization strategies for tennis curriculum model.Research results show that, at present, there are five types of tennis curriculum model in colleges and universities in Shandong Province, which are:Closed unity type, Closed compound type (Ⅰ), Semi-open unity type, Semi-open compound type (Ⅰ), Semi-open compound type (Ⅱ). Through comparative analysis of these six guiding curriculum models, curriculum objectives, course content, teaching and other aspects, we find that they have their own characteristics and thus different from each other. But in general, they are still able to take "Health First, lifetime sports" as the guiding ideology, and have already begun to emerge from the traditional teaching content, models, methods, evaluation by highlighting the diversity of course content, focusing on interests of students, comprehensive capacity development, respecting the dominant position of the students, and various innovative applications of new teaching content, methods, and evaluation. However, due to objective factors such as funding, site equipment, the qualifications of teachers, the main situation of the traditional teaching content, models, methods, and evaluation has not changed, and for students the scale to choose is narrow, and student-centered position is not totally respected. The thesis puts forwards some optimization measures for tennis curriculum model in colleges and universities in Shandong Province, in the hope that it can provide a useful reference to further strengthening the tennis facilities, enhancing tennis teachers'qualification, changing the concept of tennis instruction, optimizing tennis instruction content, exploring new teaching methods, and establishing humane evaluation system of tennis lessons, so on and so forth.
