Taking Yunnan University as an experimental example and choosing one to three traditional sports with full ethnic features of Chinese ethnic minorities, the paper, according to the contemporary curriculum and teaching theories, has compiled the courses and designed the teaching method, based on a series of experimental studies in a single semester. By means of the experimental courses, it explores a series of institutional issues of transforming the traditional sports to university courses. On the basis of investigating the current teaching and studying situation of the traditional sports in Chinese universities, the paper has reestablished the basic ideas of transforming the traditional sports to university courses, selected and processed the abundant resources of the traditional sports in accordance with the idea of developing quality-oriented education and multi-culture. What have been chosen has also been analyzed and transformed to the curriculum designing. By a train of experiments including classroom teachings and extracurricular activities, the effect and model of putting traditional sports resources into university's curricula has been tested. Then, the paper has reviewed, analyzed and assessed the traditional ethnic sports courses according to its researching objects. The whole target of this paper is to build the model of traditional ethnic sports courses, to bring the profound spiritual culture and unique educational value of the traditional ethnic sports into multicolored university's physical educations, and to help creating the harmonious atmosphere of blending multi-culture in contemporary universities.The Case study has demonstrated that it is absolutely feasible to carry out traditional ethnic sports education in universities. The education could be realized by choosing effective teaching resources, designing prober courses, building a opening, plural and inclusive learning environment, setting up curriculum integration model both inside and outside class and both in and out school, and accepting, innovating and developing traditional ethnic sports. The case study also presents that it not only enriches the contents of physical education and improves the quality of student's physical and cultural attainment, but also enhances student's abilities of innovation and practice effectively, and future promotes the development of university's quality-oriented education. What's more, the implement of teaching traditional ethnic sports in university can also build characteristic, plural, active and positive campus sport culture atmosphere, which will play an important role in passing down and spreading the traditional sports of Chinese ethnic minorities.
