China has more and more contract with the other countries in the world since its entry into World Trade Organization. As a common language, English is thus playing a more and more important role in every aspect of China's society, economy and life. Oral English is increasingly demanded. Nowadays English teachers in middle schools are concern about not only English language itself, but also developing the integrated pragmatic competence of students which includes not only speaking, writing, reading, listening, but also affect attitudes, cultural awareness, students'self-features. Speaking is on the top of other skills in learning language. Students'English ability is mainly judged by their English speaking in real-life situations. The key point is more concerned with how to improve the oral English of students in middle schools, especially in economically undeveloped junior middle. In rural junior middle schools English teachers teach the language itself only with little or no attention to oral English teaching. Considering the current situation of English teaching in rural junior middle schools, the author of the present graduation paper believes that the key issues are to reform the teaching methods. English teachers should provide enough classroom time for their students to practice their English because the classroom is the main channel of teaching. This paper focuses mainly on the designing speaking activities which can encourage the students to open their mouths to speak English. This graduation paper consists of five parts: Introduction, Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four and Conclusion.Introduction discusses the related background of the scientific study I conduct in my graduation paper, that is, the significance of oral English in our work and lives.
